The French Embassy in Saudi Arabia is pleased to announce the fifth edition of the Scientific Residency Program.
The French Embassy in Saudi Arabia’s Research Mobility program aims at fostering collaboration and exchanges between the French and the Saudi research ecosystems, by providing funding for the mobility of both young and senior Saudi researchers in France. Its primary goal is to pave the ground for joint scientific cooperation between the two countries.
Expenses covered by the French Embassy
- Stay in France for a period up to 3 months, with a minimum stipend of 1700 euros per month;
- Round trip to France from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia;
- Schengen visa with a specific designation for “talented researcher” (Embassy will facilitate the application process);
- Medical and travel insurance.
Requirements for Eligibility
- Must be a Saudi citizen;
- Must hold, at least, a master’s degree;
- Must be employed at a Saudi university or research institution;
- Must actively engage in research activities;
- Must secure full support of its institution to participate in the research mobility program;
- Must intend to conduct joint research activities at a French host institution.
- All fields of study, including social sciences and humanities, are eligible for submission in 2024.
Selection Criteria
- Scientific merit and relevance of the proposed project;
- Academic and research background of the applicant;
- Endorsement from two research supervisors: one from the host institution in France, one from the applicant’s institution in Saudi Arabia;
- Alignment of the research project with the priorities of both the host institution and the Saudi-French scientific cooperation objectives;
- Proficiency in English;
- French language would be a plus but is not a prerequisite for program participation.
