The Women in Science (“WiSci”) Girls’ Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematic (STEAM) camps offer high school girls the opportunity to explore STEAM subjects while developing leadership skills alongside peers in a safe, supportive, cross-cultural environment.
WiSci South Asia is a public-private partnership between the U.S. Department of State’s Office of Global Partnerships, the U.S. Embassies in India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and the Maldives, the U.S. Consulate General Chennai, Caterpillar Foundation, Google, the TE Connectivity Foundation, and Girl Up — a United Nations Foundation girl-centered leadership development initiative.
Selected campers and counselors are required to attend the camp in person for the entire duration. Thanks to partners, applicants can avail financial assistance opportunities to cover all camp housing accommodations, food, and travel support for campers and counselors.
WiSci South Asia Camper
- WiSci South Asia will be held in English. Please only apply if you have advanced English speaking and literacy skills. This application is open to girls who are 15-17 years of age, and are citizens of India currently living in India. Only use this application if you are applying as a camper.
- Please note: Girl Up can help support your participation in WiSci South Asia by writing letters to your school administration if your school is still in session from June 1 – 9, 2024.
South Asia Counselor
- WiSci South Asia will be held in English. Please only apply if you have advanced English speaking and literacy skills. This application is open to women who are 20-28 years of age, and citizens of India currently living in India. Only use this application if you are applying as a counselor.
Eligibility Criteria
- Join the 2024 WiSci South Asia Girls STEAM Camp scheduled June 1 – June 9, 2024, in Kochi, India. The camp will host participants from India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, the Maldives, and the United States of America.
- WiSci South Asia Girls STEAM Camp will be conducted in English. Applicants with advanced English speaking and literacy skills are encouraged to apply.
