Deadline: 6 January 2025
The Hugo Burge Foundation is delighted to announce its inaugural Springboard Studio programme, designed to help young artists and craftspeople kick start their creative careers.
Benefits
- All three studios are warm, spacious and characterful, located in historic buildings set in the beautiful landscape of the Scottish Borders.
- The studios themselves are offered free for the duration of the tenancy but do not include accommodation. The HBF can offer affordable accommodation for up to two tenants, if willing to share, at nearby Fogo Cottage.
- Springboard tenants will join the larger creative community at the Hugo Burge Foundation, which includes potters, silversmiths, chair-makers, sculptors and artists visiting on the monthly residencies. They are expected to contribute to this community during their time here, participating in Open Studios and social events, and offering talks or workshops where appropriate.
Funding Information
- The position also comes with a grant of up to £1,000 to support the purchase of tools and materials.
Eligibility Criteria
- To be eligible, they ask that you are under 30 years of age at the time of application and have completed three years of post-study practice or equivalent experience.
- They warmly invite artists from a diverse range of backgrounds, disciplines, and mediums to apply for their residency program. They are committed to fostering an inclusive and accessible environment where creativity can thrive.
- While they hope to one day offer international opportunities, they cannot currently accept applications for those who do not have the right to work in the UK.
