Applications are now open for the Connecting Artists Programme, an initiative designed for adult visual artists, who want to take the next step to develop their creative practice and exhibit and sell their work.
The mission through the Connecting Artists Programme is to specifically support artists who face challenges or barriers in accessing formal and informal art education and supports.
Objectives
- The purpose of the Open Call is to:
- Support artists with neurodivergence or intellectual disabilities.
- Help artists improve their skills and access more opportunities to exhibit and sell their art.
- Create more visibility for artists living with disabilities.
About Programme
- The Connecting Artists Programme:
- Is a 10 week online programme is designed for adult visual artists who identify as being neurodivergent or are living with an intellectual disabilities, who wish to develop their professional and creative practice.
- 10 Artists selected from across all 32 counties of Ireland.
- The programme connects artists with skilled facilitators, and partner mentors and is currently open for 2D artwork (like painting, drawing, and collage) is accepted. Photography is not currently accepted.
- Through the immersive and supportive environment artists explore their art through demonstrations and workshops and engaging with one another.
- The course culminates with a national exhibition at the prestigious Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, allowing the artists to meet in person and showcase their incredible work.
- With the support of the Connections Arts Centre team, the artists learn about key areas to developing themselves as professional artists.
Who can Apply?
- You can apply if you:
- Age 18 or older.
- Are a visual artist. Programme is currently open for 2D artwork (like painting, drawing, and collage) is accepted. Photography is not currently accepted.
- Identify as neurodivergent or living with an intellectual disability.
- Live in any of the 32 counties of Ireland (including the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland).
- Want to improve your creative practice.
Who cannot Apply?
- You cannot apply if:
- You are not a visual artist or cannot submit original 2D artwork (like painting, drawing, and collage) is accepted. Photography is not currently accepted.
- You do not identify as neurodivergent or living with an intellectual disability.
- You live outside the 32 counties of Ireland.
