Applicants are now invited to apply for the AFLAMUNA Connection – Ninth Edition to support Arab Independent Filmmakers.
AFLAMUNA x Cinemed Encounters have so far brought 27 Arab Independent feature films in development to pitch in Montpellier at Cinemed and connect with European and French producers and film professionals encouraging co-productions and collaborations.
The AFLAMUNA Connection and AFLAMUNA x Cinemed will collaborate into an all-encompassing co-production platform. 15 to 20 feature film projects in development and/or post-production will be selected to participate in this cooperative edition which will take place online in September 2025.
Up to 7 of the selected projects in development will also be invited to participate in AFLAMUNA x Cinemed in Montpellier in October 2025. Priority will be given to projects without European producers or co-producers and those that have not yet had the opportunity to pitch to international industry professionals. All selected film projects are eligible for the AFLAMUNA Connection awards.

Eligible Projects
- Projects with an Arab producer attached.
- Projects participating for the first or the second time in a co-production platform.
- Projects dealing with issues around underrepresented groups, social justice, or the environment.
Eligible Countries
- The filmmaker is a citizen of one of the 22 Arab countries: Algeria, Bahrain, Comoros, Djibouti, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen.
Eligibility Criteria
- The filmmaker has at least one short film to their credit.
- The project is a feature-length film (fiction, documentary, animation, or docu-fiction).
- The project is in development or post-production.
- For projects in development: the film project is the director’s first or second feature-length.
- Applicants (filmmakers and producers) can communicate in English as most of the meetings are held with foreign experts.

- Projects in Development: April 30, 2025.
