An Opportunity to get involved in Culture & Nature, Education & Sport in Germany for three Months

Deadline: 10 March 2024

With kulturweit-Incoming, the German UNESCO Commission invites women* from North Africa and the Middle East as well as young people from sub-Saharan Africa to support culture and nature, education and sport in Germany for three months.

During their time in Germany, all participants receive financial support and are accompanied in seminars. An important prerequisite is good knowledge of German, at least B1 according to the European Framework of Reference for Languages.

The locations where participants can spend three months include UNESCO project schools, biosphere reserves and world heritage sites, theaters, museums and foundations, sports and cultural clubs, universities and Goethe Institutes as well as organizations in the sustainability sector. During their internship, the participants support their place of work with event organization, public relations or implement projects with children and young people.

kulturweit-Incoming promotes the civic engagement of young people across borders and strengthens the international dialogue of civil society with the support of the Federal Foreign Office.

Through the internship, participants gain insight into the structure of German civil society. The deployment sites benefit from new perspectives and promote transcultural exchange. This creates a network that everyone involved can rely on for their future work.

Financial Support

Kulturweit offers you:

  • an internship for three months in a placement in the areas of culture, nature, education or sport in Germany,
  • 812 euros monthly subsidy to support your housing and food costs,
  • foreign health, liability and accident insurance,
  • the assumption of international travel costs as well as travel costs as part of the educational support program,
  • the organization and implementation of the educational support program,
  • the organization and assumption of costs for a preparatory online language course,
  • a contact person at the deployment site,
  • Contact persons for questions about applications, selection and placement, visas and security at the German UNESCO Commission,

The participants usually arrive one day before the start of the seminar and spend the night at the seminar location in Berlin during this time. The preparatory seminar imparts knowledge on UNESCO topics such as education for sustainable development, post-colonialism and racism.
  • 2-day interim seminar
