Applications are invited for the next 24th edition of the Loreal-UNESCO for Women and Science program.
The aim of the Competition is to provide financial support and promote talented women scientists conducting research in the field of biological sciences, medical sciences or agricultural sciences (hereinafter collectively referred to as “Life Sciences”). The Organizer, the Polish National Committee for UNESCO, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the Polish Academy of Sciences and the UNGC would like to express their appreciation for their achievements and encourage them to continue their work aimed at the development of science by awarding prizes to the Competition Winners.
The competition is addressed to women scientists:
- conducting research in the field of Life Sciences aimed at obtaining a master’s degree,
- conducting research in the field of Life Sciences aimed at obtaining a doctoral degree,
- conducting scientific research in the field of Life Sciences aimed at achieving scientific achievements that are the basis for obtaining a habilitated doctor’s degree.
Award Details
- Amount of scholarships in the Competition for winners:
- conducting research aimed at obtaining a master’s degree – scholarship in the total amount of PLN 25,000.00;
- conducting research aimed at obtaining a doctoral degree – scholarship in the total amount of PLN 35,000.00;
- conducting research aimed at obtaining a habilitated doctor’s degree – a scholarship in the total amount of PLN 40,000.00.
- Each prize will be paid once in the first quarter of 2025, to the bank account indicated by each of the Competition Winners.
- L’Oréal Polska is solely responsible for paying the scholarship to each Competition Winner.
- The Ministry of Science and Higher Education will award each Competition Winner an additional prize of a maximum amount of PLN 10,000.00, which will cover the costs of a trip to a selected foreign (in Europe) scientific conference. The prize can be used within 1 calendar year from the announcement of the Competition results.
Criteria
The Competition is open to candidates who:
- have their place of residence in the territory of the Republic of Poland,
- have full legal capacity,
- in the year in which the scholarship is paid (2025: the calendar year immediately following the year in which the Competition Winners will be selected) will not be 26 years old – in the case of master’s students, 32 years old – in the case of doctoral students and 40 years old – in the case of habilitation students. Candidates who were on maternity leave during their scientific work have the right to extend the age limit by an additional two years for each child. These candidates are obliged to attach to the competition application a certificate of being on maternity leave signed by the Head of the administrative unit educating or employing the candidates.
- will obtain the degree of doctor or habilitated doctor, respectively, no earlier than after the announcement of the results of the competition, i.e. no earlier than November 30, 2024.
