The Bayer Corporation, Women in Nephrology (WIN) and the National Kidney Foundation (NKF) are proud to announce the launch of the REsearch and Advancement in Cardiorenal Health (REACH) Awards.
The REACH Awards aim to support investigator research in the areas of cardiovascular and kidney disease.
Objectives
- The objectives of the program are to:
- Support needed research in innovative and understudied areas within the cardiovascular and kidney health space
- Support investigator research with the hopes of creating advancements in cardiovascular and kidney research
- Contribute to the growing body of cardiovascular and kidney research seeking to optimize clinical care and improve patient outcomes
Areas of Research
- The example focus for the 2024/2025 cycle of the REACH Awards includes clinical or population research that investigates:
- Sex/gender differences in heart and kidney health
- Gaps and barriers in care for heart and kidney diseases
- Underserved/underrepresented populations with chronic kidney disease (CKD) associated with type 2 diabetes (T2D)
- Guideline-directed medical therapies for CKD-T2D and/or heart failure
- The role of aldosterone in disease biology
- CKD in a cardiovascular disease setting
- Implementation science
- Patient-reported outcomes in CKD and T2D
- Applicants may also apply outside these areas. Applicants will be required to describe how their proposed research will translate into clinical benefits for patients with cardiovascular and kidney conditions. Applications that offer the most compelling translational opportunities will be given greater weight during the review process.

- Award value: up to US $20,000 per recipient
- Number of awards: 9
- Duration of award: 1 year
Eligibility Criteria
- All healthcare professionals, fellows, clinical researchers, scientists, and epidemiologists working within heart and kidney diseases in the United States may apply.
