Deadline: 30 April 2024
OFFCITY is inviting artists, architects, theorists or creative and interdisciplinary collectives for Articulation of Architecture and Public Space/Challenge.
Through the residency program, they want to support at least 3 artists, architects, theorists or creative and interdisciplinary collectives (the number of supported projects will depend on the complexity of the individual plans and the financial possibilities).
They offer selected authors time, background and financial support to explore the Pardubice area with their senses and tools and then prepare an author’s presentation format for the public (walks, performances, happenings, etc.). Selected projects will receive a fee depending on the length of stay (1,200 CZK/person/day), a residential studio for a period of 1-3 weeks (the stay can be divided) and, as needed, production support, consultation, networking with local cultural projects, organizations and artists.
What they offer?
- the opportunity to slow down, explore, experiment, develop, concentrate and network
- accommodation and space for work for a period of 1-3 weeks (the residential studio is suitable for individuals, but can also accommodate smaller collectives accustomed to coexistence)
- friendly environment, production support and consultation
- fee in the amount of 1200 CZK/person/day
- other possible implementation costs may be the subject of another joint agreement
- The resident pays for the transport costs himself/herself.
What they expect?
- active participation in the creative residency, open communication
- understanding and respect for the place, people and its other residents and users
- realization of one public presentation (during the residency or at another agreed date)
Criteria
- They invite the participants of the residences to explore the city and articulate the architecture from various positions. They are thus following up on a series of residencies, during which they focused on the topic of reading public space in 2022 and 2023. Together with the participants in OFFCITY AiR, they examined the Pardubice public space from the point of view of visual smog, graffiti, personal stories, or timetables and trajectories of the city’s public transport; they used the language of contemporary visual and live art as well as theory.
