Nominations open for TIAW World of Difference Award

Whether the candidate is working on a small scale in the developing world or making an impact at the top of the world’s largest corporations, whether your candidate is well known or an unsung heroine or hero, they want you to tell them the stories of the people whose extraordinary achievements are furthering the economic empowerment of women.

Categories

• Individual (Women and Men)
  • Community:
    • How has the candidate contributed to the economic empowerment of women in their own community?
    • How have they worked within their community to enhance women’s economic success?
  • Corporate:
    • How has the candidate contributed to the economic empowerment of women in the corporate world?
    • How have they worked within their company to ensure women’s success – by initiating or implementing programs, mentoring other women, encouraging mentorship of women by other women and male senior executives, etc.?
    • How has the candidate used their corporate position to further the economic empowerment of women outside the corporate world?
  • Education:
    • How has the candidate contributed to the economic empowerment of women through education-based programs, initiatives or personal action?
  • Entrepreneur:
    • How has the candidate contributed to the economic empowerment of women through entrepreneurial activities; and/or,
    • How has the candidate positively impacted the entrepreneurial capability of women?
  • Non-Profit/NGO:
    • How has the candidate contributed to the economic empowerment of women through work in, or the development of, non-profit or Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs)?
  • Public Sector:
    • How has the candidate contributed to the economic empowerment of women through a public service or government role? (Public service is defined as a service intended to serve all members of a community. It is usually provided by government to people living within its jurisdiction, either directly or by financing provision of services).
• Corporations and/or Companies
  • Corporate Initiatives for Women’s Economic Empowerment:
    • How has the organization being nominated contributed to the economic empowerment of women through its initiatives, policies (procurement, hiring, training, advancement, etc.) or corporate social responsibility?

Award Criteria

• Economic empowerment as defined by TIAW means contributing to the ability of women to earn a living or in some way directly contributing to the economic betterment of other women.
• It is essential that the nomination quantify the contributions of the nominee to women’s economic empowerment.

• Their Story
  • (Maximum 300 words)
  • Describe how the Nominee is positively impacting economic empowerment as defined by TIAW; highlighting in particular:
    • Reason for nomination
    • Quantify the magnitude of efforts (for example, number or percentage of women benefiting from effort or breadth of effort – local, regional, national, or international)
    • Other recognition (if appropriate)
