Nominations are now open for the Taoyuan International Art Award to cultivate talent in contemporary art and create a strong foundation for the research and creation of contemporary art, as well as to expand global perspectives, strengthen international exchanges, and encourage the diversified development of art practices.
The “Taoyuan International Art Prize” (Taoyuan Prize) will be launched by the Taoyuan Museum of Art in 2021. It is a biennial exhibition plan that builds international art network connections and a global perspective. It aims to encourage the cultural heterogeneity of contemporary art around the world, and is committed to exploring international creative proposals that reveal contemporary perspectives. The finalists will be supported by the museum in the implementation of their respective exhibition plans. Since its establishment, it has entered its third edition. In order to expand the boundaries of art form and culture, in addition to the application system that is not limited to media, it also organizes an international jury as a major feature of the award. In the past, it has invited the chief executive of the 57th Venice Biennale. Curator Christine Macel, Director of Maemori Art Museum Nanjo Fumio, independent curator Hou Hanru, Sydney Biennale curator Cosmin Costinas, etc., well-known domestic art critics, curators and scholars such as Gao Qianhui, Wang Jiaji, Gao Mori Nobuonan, Ruan Qingyue, etc. have all participated in the review.
The “Taoyuan International Art Award” looks forward to contemporary art that knows no borders. The Taoyuan Art Museum aims to use the vision of a 21st century city art museum as a place to expand the nature and boundaries of art, stimulate creative energy, and gather speculation on global phenomena.
The Taoyuan Museum of Fine Arts (Qingpu Main Building) is expected to be officially completed by the end of 2026. The Taoyuan Museum of Fine Arts, which has been established for more than five years, continues to use creative guerrilla plans to establish a presence in this city before an art museum with a main building is born.
