Nominations open for Science and Technology Award (Malaysia)

Award Information

• Two awards are conferred every year.
• The two recipients will each receive:
  • A Certificate of Award,
  • A cash prize of RM30,000.
• The award presentation ceremony shall be held in November/December each year.

Eligibility Criteria

• Qualification of Nominee
  • Malaysian citizen who resides in Malaysia and has excelled in an area of study relating to natural sciences, excluding mathematics and clinical medicine, who:
    • Has made a major scientific discovery or discoveries which contributed to the enhancement of scientific knowledge,
    • Has made an original, revolutionary and important invention,
    • Has successfully solved a major technological problem with an economically viable solution.
• Nominating University/Institution
  • Nominations must be submitted and endorsed by authorized representative of a scientific or professional institution/organization or a university in Malaysia of which the nominee is a member.
• General Criteria
  • Has made a major scientific discovery or discoveries which contributed to the enhancement of scientific knowledge.
  • Has successfully solved a major technology problem with an economically viable solution.
  • Has made an original, revolutionary and important invention.
  • Malaysian citizen who resides in Malaysia.
  • Individual or Group effort.
  • Must be submitted by an authorized representative of scientific or professional institution or university in Malaysia of which the nominee is a member.
  • Tax exempted in the hands of the winner.

Selection Criteria

• The recipients shall be selected by the Selection Committee and approved by the Board of the Foundation.
• Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an interview by September of each year.
• The decision of the Selection Committee and the Board of the Foundation is final and no correspondence regarding the decision will be entertained.
