The Green Youth Champion Awards celebrates and honors young individuals, innovators, researchers, entrepreneurs, and youth-owned organizations making strides in the field of environmental sustainability.
These awards aim to recognize those who are driving environmentally sustainable projects in South Africa, with the goal of not only identifying and honoring individuals but also fostering creativity and promoting high-quality innovations and businesses that address the country’s challenges.

Award Categories
- The categories are as follows:
- Green Innovator of the Year: Awarded to a young individual or team that has developed a groundbreaking green technology, business model, or climate-smart solution with proven impact.
- Youth in Climate Justice Award: Recognises a youth activist or organisation advancing environmental justice, policy advocacy, and community-based climate resilience.
- Green SMME Trailblazer Award: Celebrates a youth-owned small business driving job creation, sustainability, and circular economy practices in their local community.
- Agricultural Eco-Champion Award: Presented to a young agripreneur or cooperative pioneering regenerative agriculture, agroecology, or climate-resilient farming methods.
- Legacy Impact Award: An honorary award for a past GYI alumnus whose long-term commitment and growth have demonstrated consistent contribution to green development and inspired the next generation.
