This national awards program celebrates the dreamers, the status quo challengers, and the amazing humans who refuse to be defined by outdated notions of what it means to have a hearing loss.
Now in its 25th year, the Oticon Focus on People Awards program is a beacon of inspiration, honoring the tireless efforts and outstanding achievements of individuals who make a positive difference and drive change for all people with hearing loss.
Categories
- Awards in four categories
- Student Standouts
- For children and young adults with hearing loss, ages 6–25, who are proving that nothing, especially hearing loss, can stand in their way.
- Adult Trailblazers
- For people 18 and older with hearing loss who refuse to let it define what is possible.
- Hearing Loss Champions
- For adults 25 and older, with or without hearing loss, who parent, educate, serve or support people with hearing loss and the hearing loss community.
- Heroic Hearing Care Professionals
- For hearing care practitioners, with or without hearing loss, who go “above and beyond” to open doors of opportunity and provide exceptional care to people with hearing loss.
- Student Standouts
Prize Information
- Winners in each of four categories will receive national recognition and prizes that include cash awards, donations to favorite charities, and Oticon hearing aids with BrainHearing technology.
- 1st place winners in the Student, Adult and Champion categories
- First place winners receive a $2,500 cash prize and a $1,000 donation to the charity of their choice. First place winners with hearing loss in the Student, Adult and Hearing Loss Champion categories also receive a pair of Oticon hearing aids with BrainHearing technology.
- 1st place winner in the Hearing Care Practitioner category
- Receive $2,500 cash prize and $1,000 to a charity of their choice.
- 2nd place winners
- Receive a $500 cash prize.
- 3rd place winners
- Receive a $250 cash prize.
Eligibility Criteria
- The Awards program is open to individuals with any degree of hearing loss who are: legal residents of the 50 United States or District of Columbia, age 6 or older.
- Nominees under the age of 18 years require the written approval of parent or legal guardian.
- Nominees in the Champion or Practitioner category are not required to have a hearing loss.
- Employees of Sponsor, its affiliated companies and its advertising and promotion agencies and anyone involved with the Awards program (collectively, “Awards Entities”), and their immediate family members and/or those living in the same household of each are not eligible to enter or win.
