Nominations open for Eric Gregory Awards (UK)

Benefits

• Winners of the Eric Gregory Awards are invited to a free solo week residency at Thomas Cottage. The house is generously reserved for poets who have won an Eric Gregory Award, usually in January and February following their Award.
• Winners of the Eric Gregory Awards will also be invited to have a poem, of the winning collection or from other work, published in the summer edition of Poetry London.

Eligibility Criteria

• The author must be under the age of 30 on the 31 October 2024.
• The author must either be a British national or be resident in Great Britain and Northern Ireland for three years immediately prior to the date of submission for the award, and writing in English.

Ineligibility Criteria

• Present employees (or anyone currently connected with the administration of the Society of Authors’ grants and prizes) or members of the SoA Management Committee may not apply for any of the grants and prizes administered by the Society of Authors.

Judging Criteria

• The judges’ decisions (both as to eligibility and the winning entries) shall be final. The judges reserve the right not to make any Eric Gregory Awards if, in their opinion, no works entered reach a sufficiently high standard.

Application Requirements

• The work submitted may be a published or unpublished volume of poetry, drama-poems or belles-lettres.
• No more than 30 poems should be submitted. If over 30 are submitted the extra poems will be removed.
• The work must not have been previously submitted for The Eric Gregory Awards.
• Entrants may only enter one collection of 30 poems each year.
• All submissions must have been written by the author and cannot contain the use of AI generated works.
• Upload to this form one collection formatted in line with the following style guide. Only one collection may be submitted:
  • A4 paper size
  • 12 point font size
  • Contents page of poems with numbered poems must be used
  • Total number of poems must not exceed 30 poems
  • Page numbers must be used
  • Total number of pages must not exceed 50 pages
  • The poet’s name should not appear anywhere within the collection, though it can be included in the file name
  • Submitted in .doc/.docx/.pdf format
  • File name should be the title of the collection and poet name.
