The Neighborhood Funders Group is accepting applications for Discount Foundation Legacy Award to identifies, supports and celebrates an individual who has demonstrated outstanding leadership and contributed significantly to the workers’ rights movement in the United States.
They hope to recognize and amplify the work of individuals at the intersections leading the way toward worker justice for low-wage workers of color.
Funding Information
- Awardees will receive a $20,000 stipend to provide them with the flexibility to expand on their professional activities and achievements in the absence of reporting requirements or other specific obligations.
Eligibility Requirements
- The nominee must be 18 years or older.
- The nominee may not nominate themselves.
- Nominations are reserved for individuals only. Organizations or other institutional bodies or groups of individuals are not eligible for the award.
- The nominee is an individual who has been active in advancing worker organizing and/or related worker justice work. This individual can be a current staff member, former staff member, Board member, volunteer or member of an organization or institution engaged in organizing workers – such as (but not limited to) a union, a worker center or a community organization. The awardee does not need to be the head of an organization. Individuals who have organized at their workplace are also eligible for this award.
- The nominee must currently reside in the United States and engage in activism with and on behalf of the rights of working people within the United States.
- All nominations must be submitted via their online application process to be considered.
Ineligibility Criteria
- Employees of any of the participating foundations either represented on the award’s Selection Committee or as funding institutions of the awards program are not eligible for this award. Employees of the national office of Jobs with Justice Education Fund or of the Neighborhood Funders Group are also not eligible.
