The ESET Cybersecurity Journalism Award (“The Contest”) is an initiative developed by ESET Latin America SRL as the Organizer, which aims to recognize the work of technology journalism professionals throughout Latin America.
In its fifteenth edition, ESET will award the author of the best journalistic work focused on a computer security topic with a trip to the Mobile World Congress 2026 (“MWC”) to be held in Barcelona (Spain) and a visit to the ESET offices in Bratislava (Slovakia).
Categories
- Graphic: Articles published in newspapers and magazines or generated by news agencies.
- Digital: Articles published exclusively on websites, newsletters, blogs, and other media.
- Multimedia: Reports presented on radio, television, podcasts, and digital media.
Award Information
- Round-trip airfare for one person (from the city of residence to Barcelona);
- One-way ticket from Barcelona to Bratislava (Slovakia),
- Return ticket from Bratislava (Slovakia) to the city of residence,
- Accommodation for 9 days and 8 nights to be distributed between Barcelona and Bratislava
- according to the Winner’s availability;
- Coverage for travel expenses related to transportation and breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner for the duration of the event with a limit of 150 USD per day in both cities.
- The invitation to the MWC in Barcelona will be provided.
Eligibility Criteria
- Requirements for Participants:
- Authors of journalistic works in graphic, digital or digital format may participate. multimedia from all over Latin America who are over 18 years of age.
- The author must have worked as a journalist or been employed by a news agency or media outlet during the publication period established for the competing works, between August 30, 2024, and August 10, 2025.
- The media or agency with which the contestant was linked during the period stipulated must have provided their service to one or more Latin American countries during the reference period.
- Participants must be in good health to travel. Furthermore, if selected, they must have a valid passport with an expiration date of more than 6 months or be in the process of obtaining one. Any visa or other document required by the authorities must be obtained by the winner in a timely manner.
- ESET and the Contest authorities may request additional information that Reliably verify the participating journalist’s connection with the media outlet or news agency, according to the previously established requirements.
- The possibility of winning the Contest in two consecutive editions is prohibited. The same does not apply to the minor prizes awarded to the winners of each category, whose delivery is not subject to any type of restriction on continuity. Likewise, the works Winners of each category of the 2024 edition are eligible to compete for the grand prize in this edition.
- Participation in the Best Journalistic Work Contest is prohibited in Computer security for all employees working with ESET Latinoamérica SRL, including external suppliers and employees.
- Requirements for the Works:
- The works must have been published between August 30, 2024 and August 10, 2024. from 2025 inclusive in any graphic, digital or multimedia medium.
- Participation is permitted with up to one work per category, i.e., a maximum of three works per person. No more than one work from the same contestant will be considered in the same category.
- It is prohibited to register the same work in more than one category. The contestant must participate with original material in each of them.
- Any participant is allowed to replace a work subscribed for a particular category with a new entry belonging to the same category.
- Entries written by more than one author may be entered. The prizes, however, are open to only one person, and cannot be modified.
- Works published in any Latin American media or agency may participate.
- Works that include any reference to brands or trademarks will not be eligible to participate.
- Works that are a compilation or summary of other documents will not be accepted. existing.
- The work must be original and documents in which the original work is not included will not be evaluated that plagiarism is proven in any of its parts.
