The Australia Awards in Indonesia is seeking applications for its short course on Promoting Integrity, Transparency and Leadership in the Public Sector.
The course aims to improve integrity, transparency and leadership in the public sector, especially in the justice and civil service sectors. The course will bring participants to meet leading experts in the sector.
The course includes a two-week course in Australia and two workshops in Indonesia. It is offered to 25 participants and is targeted at National and Subnational Government institutions, academia, research institutes, civil society organisations, non-government sectors, and other relevant agencies or organisations.
Objectives
- The course will focus on the following learning objectives (the course will help participants to):
- Support GoI’s public sector integrity reform efforts by sharing and benchmarking Australian strategies in areas such as transparency, accountability and preventing/eradicating corruption
- Enhance leadership skills necessary to address challenges in implementing these reforms and effecting positive change in their organisation more broadly
- Analyse the role of different stakeholders in promoting integrity, transparency and leadership in the public sector (including the role of parliaments, the civil service, the media and others in the private sector)
- Explore how Australia’s public sector supports effective collaboration between these government and non-government stakeholders
- Learn about international best practices on improving integrity, transparency and leadership in the public sector (e.g. through standards, policy and regulations, fostering dialogue, access to information)
- Understand tensions between individual rights and public interest in corruption cases
- Develop tools needed to identify and develop innovative approaches to building public sector integrity (including through digital platforms and IT-driven initiatives) and enhancing citizen engagement (including measuring, monitoring and evaluating the impact on public service delivery)
- Develop networks between individuals and organisations in Indonesia and Australia to further enhance collaboration and sharing of ideas and innovations
- Share experiences on lessons learned and leadership best practices for a better understanding of the challenges faced in different organisations/countries
Eligibility Criteria
- Minimum S1 level qualification or higher proficiency with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
- Up to the Echelon 3 level of the government
- Specialists/managers/directors from non-government sectors
- Target participants include representatives of the following institutions:

- House of Representatives expert staff members/advisers (national and subnational)
- Secretariat General of the House of Representatives

- Attorney General’s Office

- Other relevant agencies or organisations
- Endorsed by the supervisor
- Committed to prepare and implement an Award Project, an individual or small group development project as part of the course
- Indonesian nationality and hold an ID card
