The Asian Development Bank Institute is delighted to invite journalists from Asia and the Pacific to submit articles to the Developing Asia Journalism Awards 2025.
The Awards are an initiative to promote works of journalism that accurately report on regional efforts advancing sustainable development.
To support the next generation of quality journalism in the region, this year’s DAJA will allocate one award to a journalist under the age of 30.
Focus Areas
- The articles should be addressing one of the following issues:
- Challenges and opportunities regional economies face in attaining high-income status (in connection with the so-called “middle-income trap”)
- Digital transformation, including artificial intelligence
- Climate adaptation and the conservation of the environment and natural resources for resilience
- Sustainable urban development that contributes to sustainability and inclusion
- The articles must address these issues in the context of developing and emerging economies in Asia and the Pacific.
Prize Information
- Authors of the selected winning articles will be invited to a virtual awards ceremony and receive a $2,000 cash prize.
Eligibility Criteria
- Submissions are particularly encouraged on stories that shed light on the situations facing youth, women, or disadvantaged or marginalized groups or communities.
- DAJA also welcomes active participation from journalists from Central and West Asia and the Pacific.
Application Requirements
- Published by a recognized media outlet (no self-published work, e.g., personal blogs) or media institution (e.g., graduate school website).
- English-language submissions only.
- Co-byline or multiple producers are allowed, but only one prize will be awarded per winning entry.
- Written article published between 1 April 2024 and 31 March 2025.
