The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) is inviting applications for its STE(A)M Challenge to support and reward the best ideas of high school students from Serbia for solving local problems with the application of STE(A)M disciplines, digital technology and data.
The challenge is to identify a local problem in your local environment school, neighborhood, municipality or city and devise a way to solve it together with your friends, looking for answers in digital technologies and STE(A)M disciplines.
The challenge is realized within the project “Building key computing competencies towards the workforce of the future”, which is implemented by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in partnership with the Ministry of Education and the Petlja Foundation, with the support of the Government of the Republic of Serbia.
Benefits
- For teachers: Voucher for the purchase of technological equipment in the amount of $300 per team member.
- For the winning teams: Entrepreneurial tour in Belgrade One day visit to the relevant actors of the startup ecosystem.
- For male and female students: Voucher for the purchase of technological equipment in the amount of 300 dollars per team member.
Eligibility Criteria
- School teams from accredited secondary schools in the Republic of Serbia can apply for the STE(A)M challenge, which can consist of 2-5 students, led by 1-2 teachers.
- Students as well as teachers can form several different teams that apply, but no more than 3. Also, the team can be made up of representatives of more than one high school, i.e. teams can be made up of students from different high schools.
Ineligibility Criteria
- The students who made up three of last year’s winning teams cannot compete in this year’s STE(A)M challenge.
- Digital solutions that were supported within last year’s STE(A)M challenge cannot be subject to repeated support
