“Latera The Art Farm” has announced applications for the International Award for Contemporary Art to search for the no. 1 international artist who can create an artistic work sculptural and/or installation within the village of Latera.
The following announcement is aimed to international artists with proven experience in the sector of art, capable of interpreting with their own artistic work (as it is public) the history of the place that will host it. The competition is aimed to all artists or groups of artists, professionals and coming from any country in the world.
“Latera the art Farm” acts as a promoter for the artistic redevelopment of the ancient medieval village of Latera in Lazio, a long forgotten village with a strong imprint of depopulation, to make it attractive from a tourist point of view.
The work covered by the tender will be the symbolic work of the “Latera the Art Farm” initiative, it will be included in the open-air exhibition itinerary within the context of the historic village.
This call gives the opportunity to an international artist to participate in this project, creating an artistic residency lasting approximately 30 days aimed to a deeper knowledge into the territory and its history, foreseeing the design and construction of the work during the abovementioned period of the artist’s stay in the Lazio municipality.
Prize Information
- A prize/fee of 10,000 euros (ten thousand/00) is made available for the work, intended for the creation of the permanent artistic work to be installed within the village historian of Latera.
- Materials, transport, food and accommodation are the responsibility of the client (commissioning).
- To facilitate the creation of the work, the artist is avail to make use of a series of technical partners and local workers, to be defined in the design phase of the work with respect to the needs of the artist during the period of residence at Latera, which will allow him to find equipment and materials useful for the realization of the permanent work to be placed inside the village of Latera.
Eligibility Criteria
- Sculptural and/or installation projects will be specifically evaluated in the selection. Therefore, they are not, as part of this call, performing art, pictorial or artistic projects will be evaluated multimedia that do not involve the creation of a physical installation within the exhibition itinerary.
- Specifications required for the work to be carried out during the residency period.
- The selected artist undertakes to create a work that, given the public context in which will fit in, must be born from the artist’s relationship with the place itself, it must be of medium/large size and made with durable materials.
