The Tyler Prize for Environmental Achievement (the Tyler Prize) is the world’s longest running and most prestigious annual environmental award.
The Prize is awarded annually to scientists, ecologists, economists, policymakers, or organizations that have delivered environmental solutions with measurable global impact.
Prize Information
- Recipients of the Tyler Prize are honored in a ceremony in which they are presented with the Tyler Prize medallion, plaque, and an award of USD $250,000.
Eligibility Criteria
- The Tyler Prize is awarded to individuals and institutions from any part of the world working to deliver global impact for the environment
- All nominations must come from a third party (self-nominations are not permitted)
- Multiple nominations from a single nominator and posthumous nominations are not permitted
- Nominations are retained for three years of consideration
- Nominations must be submitted in the English language
- The work of nominees is expected to:
- Be based on strong science, including natural and/or social sciences
- Demonstrate measurable and scalable impact(s) on policy and/or practice
- Address global inequalities and solutions
- Demonstrate engagement with younger generations
Ineligibility Criteria
- The Tyler Prize is not awarded:
- To grassroots organizations working to deliver local/ regional solutions
- To organizations or individuals whose singular purpose is to raise awareness on an issue
- For the organization of large meetings, summits, or conferences
- Posthumously
