The Tulipán Foundation is excited to seek nominations for its Art & Culture Award to support individual artists committed to enriching the Hungarian American cultural landscape.
By offering this award, they aim to foster opportunities for collaboration, exhibition, and public engagement.
Funding Information
- Grants range from $5000 to $15,000, depending on the scope and needs of the project. Funding will be distributed in two installments.
Eligible Projects
- Applicants must show that their work actively engages with, interprets, or contributes to the preservation, promotion, or innovative reimagining of Hungarian or Hungarian American culture, heritage, or history. Their artistic practices or cultural contributions should align with the goal of promoting Hungarian American culture.
Eligibility Criteria
- To be eligible for the Tulipán Art & Culture Award, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Residency: Applicants must be individuals based in the U.S. who identify with, or have made significant contributions to, the Hungarian American artistic and cultural community. They must also be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
- Commitment to Hungarian Culture: Applicants do not need to be of Hungarian or Hungarian American descent, but they must show a strong commitment to promoting Hungarian heritage and culture within the United States. This may include:
- Incorporating traditional Hungarian themes into their work, or presenting them in new, creative, or unconventional ways.
- Reinterpreting or innovating upon traditional Hungarian art forms.
- Using platforms to highlight topics relevant to the Hungarian American community.
- Age: Applicants must be at least 18 years of age at the time of applying.
- Artistic Discipline: This award is open to all types of artistic and cultural expression, to include:
- Visual Arts: Painting, sculpture, photography, etc.
- Performing Arts: Theater, dance, performance art, music, etc.
- Literary Arts: Poetry, prose, plays, etc.
- Folk Arts: Hand-painted pottery, embroidered textiles, woven baskets, etc.
- Multimedia Projects: Video, digital art, etc.
- Cultural Curation: Exhibitions, archives, etc.
- Experience Level: The award is open to artists at all career stages, including emerging (0-5 years), mid-career (6-10 years), and established (11+ years) artists. Applicants must have a proven track record of professional achievements, community involvement, or contributions that help raise the profile of Hungarian American culture.
