Applications are now open for the EU Investigative Journalism Award, an annual competition for the best stories produced in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The award aims to recognise exceptional achievements in investigative journalism and increase the visibility of quality stories. The award continues its mission to celebrate and promote outstanding investigative reporting that contributes to transparency, accountability, and the public interest.

Award Information
- The prize fund for national and regional awards amounts to 10,000 euros. In each country, the three best stories of the year are awarded, and the national and regional prizes are 5,000 (for first place), 3,000 (for second), and 2,000 (for third) euros.
Eligibility Criteria
- Journalists must submit stories that were published during the previous calendar year.
- The prize is awarded in the Western Balkans region (Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia) and Turkey.
- Aside from the national recognitions, the competition will again award the best regional stories.
- Each candidate can nominate their work for a national and/or regional award, and the maximum number of applications per candidate is three.
Selection Criteria
- An esteemed jury composed of local and international media experts, journalists and editors will ensure a fair and thorough evaluation.
- National jury members are allowed to propose entries for the regional award even if they weren’t originally nominated for that level.
- If such entries don’t win nationally but meet the criteria, they will still be eligible for regional consideration.
