The Cornish Buildings Group is inviting nominations for its CBG Awards to promote projects which make a significant contribution to improving the built environment in Cornwall, while achieving a satisfactory solution to the aims and objectives of the client and their architect or designer.
The CBG Awards are made each year for the best recently-completed or renovated buildings. These include private, commercial and public developments, renovations and small building or landscape improvements.
The ‘Oscars’ of building awards in Cornwall, the CBG Awards are respected and desirable recognitions of achievement, with entries from private individuals and architectural practices. The awards conclude with a well-publicised ceremony.
Award Categories
- The Award categories are:
- Best new building.
- Best restoration.
- The Cornish Buildings Group/Cornish Mining World Heritage Site Award for the best restoration of historic structure in the World Heritage Site.
- The Cornish Buildings Group/Cornish Mining World Heritage Site Award for the best new build in the World Heritage Site.
- The Jenny Gason Award for the best restoration of a small historic building in Cornwall.
Eligibility Criteria
- Buildings must be within Cornwall.
- Building work must have been completed in the previous two years.
- Entries must be accompanied by:
- A completed entry form
- Photographs
- To fully explain the scheme you may also include:
- Plans and location map at A4
- A short note about the project (max. 2 x A4 sheets) Drawings of elevations (where available) are also helpful and in the case of restorations, ‘before’ and ‘after’ photos and drawings are particularly useful.
- Entries may be made by the owner or architect or those with no connection to the building; in this case they will obtain consent from the owner.
