The National Bureau of Animal Genetic Resources (NBAGR) invites nominations for Breed Conservation Award for conserving and maintaining the registered Breeds of livestock and poultry.
Breed conservation awards will be conferred on 23rd December (Kisan Diwas) under two categories (individual and institutional) and 3 awards in each categories (first, second and third) with one consolation award, coming to a total of 8 awards. The award will carry a Certificate/citation.
Categories
- The award will be conferred to livestock keepers/institutions under each of the following categories:
- Breed Conservation Awards for Individuals: For any indigenous registered breed of domestic livestock and poultry by Institute) First, Second, Third and one Consolation prize.
- Breed Conservation Awards for Institutions (Govt. Institutions, Breed Societies, NGOs, Gaushalas etc.): For any indigenous registered breed of domestic livestock and poultry by Institute)First, Second, Third and one Consolation prize.
Eligibility Criteria
- Indian individual livestock keeper’s/communities/Institutions engaged in indigenous breed conservation, or sustaining conservation through enhanced income from breed or its products, value addition, breeding services to the society are eligible for award.
- For the purpose of breed conservation Award an individual, community or institution who is engaged in animal rearing/husbandry/animal conservation for at least last 5years preceding the years of award, can apply.
- For the purpose of Breed Conservation Award following can be considered as institution Registered Breeders’ Association/Breed Societies/Govt. Organizations/Societies/NGOs/Gaushala etc.
- In institution category “only one application from each species” will be accepted. Kindly avoid more than one application for same species. However, Institute may submit other application in another species.
- Only breeds of livestock and poultry registered with ICAR-NBAGR will be considered for the award. Same individual/communities/Institutions can apply for more than one breed of the award, but one application will be restricted to only one breed of livestock/poultry. The application mentioning more than one breed for award will be rejected. However, an applicant may submit more than one application. Kindly mention only breed name in one application.
- The breeds awarded during last three years in same category (Individual/institution) are not eligible for award. However, breed awarded in Individual category may be considered in Institutional category and vice-versa.
