MAISHA Dance is looking for a talented dancer who is passionate about co‐creation, collaboration, Africa‐Europe cross‐border cooperation and intercultural dialogue.
S/he will be responsible for delivering dynamic, groundbreaking, captivating, innovative and inspiring performances, combining African and European traditional and contemporary dance.
This is a unique opportunity for creative individuals who are eager to participate in a pioneering project, push boundaries and make a difference in the world of dance.
Maisha is looking for dancers in all styles, from classic to contemporary and everything in between.
What do they offer?
- Financial package of 5,000 EUR to participate in the 3‐week residence in Addis Ababa + rehearsals + at least one performance on 25 May in Addis Ababa.
- 3,000 EUR for each additional performance happening in 2024 (maximum 3). Dedicated rehearsals are necessary.

Key Responsibilities
- In May 2024, participate in a three‐week dance residence in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, with seven other selected dancers.
- Guided by a team of highly experienced choreographers, learn and execute eight choreographies with precision and grace.
- Lead one of these eight choreographies.
- Ensure precision, flow and emotion in every movement.
- Participate in regular rehearsals and at least one confirmed performance on 25 May 2024 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
- Participate in regular rehearsals and upcoming performances throughout the year in different countries (maximum 3).
- Participate in creative brainstorming sessions to generate new and exciting performance ideas.
- Maintain physical stamina and flexibility.
- Stay up‐to‐date with current dance trends and techniques.
- Represent MAISHA with professionalism, both on and off stage.
- Participate in public relations, media interviews and marketing initiatives to promote MAISHA project in general and MAISHA Dance in particular.
Eligibility Criteria
- African or European nationality. Both is a plus.
- At least 5 years of professional experience as a dancer.
- Proficiency in at least one dance style.
- Strong knowledge of other dance styles.
- Strong ability to quickly and accurately learn and execute new choreographies.
- High level of physical fitness and flexibility.
- Ability to adapt to different performance spaces and environments.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends in order to accommodate rehearsals and performances.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent teamwork skills.
- Be up‐to‐date on current dance trends and techniques to elevate and innovate MAISHA’s standards.
- Experience working with a mix of African and European dancers is a plus.
- Experience working with intercultural projects is a plus.
