The Rohini Nayyar prize has been established to recognize the exemplary contributions of young Indians, under the age of 40 years, towards improving the lives of people in rural India.
The Rohini Nayyar Prize, conferred annually, will recognise an individual’s outstanding contribution to rural development whether in civil society, government, enterprise or academia.
Funding Information
- Rs. 10 Lakhs every year.
Eligibility Criteria
- Individuals up to 40 years of age, born on or after 1st January 1984, who have
- worked for at least 5 years.
- A team of at most three individuals, each up to 40 years of age, born on or after 1st January 1984, each of whom have worked for at least five years.
- Practitioners working in civil society organizations (NGOs), as well as those from government, rural enterprises, community-based organizations (CBOs), and academia, will be eligible for consideration.
- Work on any aspect of rural development, including climate-action, environmental- conservation, bio-diversity, energy, food-systems, agriculture, education, health, water, sanitation, enterprise development, employment-creation, women’s empowerment, child development, micro-finance, and related activities.
- Innovative work which is ahead of the curve, including the use of emerging technologies, or brings about a change in social norms and community behaviour.
- Impactful work, which is sustained, whether extensive (affecting many people in larger geographical spaces), or intensive (major transformative change in a small community).
