The ABP Journalism Award, organized by the Brazilian Psychiatric Association, is a psychoeducational initiative of the Institution with the purpose of recognizing and awarding journalistic works that aimed to demystify various aspects involving mental disorders and the stigma that weighs on psychiatry and all matters related to the specialty and its patients.
The event aims to award and recognize journalistic works produced in Brazil and published in newspapers, magazines, radio stations, channels, television stations and electronic communication vehicles based in the country that aim to demystify various aspects involving mental disorders, the stigma that weighs on psychiatry and all matters related to the specialty and its patients.
National journalistic productions that are broadcast on platforms based in Brazil and within the following categories can compete for the award: print, online, radio, television, channel and influencer.
Awards
- The works indicated as winners by the Evaluation Committee will be assigned the following gross values, on which the taxes required by law will be levied:

Judging Criteria
- The judging of the works will be carried out in two distinct stages.
- The judges of the Evaluation Committee will assign scores that may vary from 1 (one) to 5 (five) for each work, with scores divided into decimals being permitted. The five works from each of the other categories that obtain the highest scores will be considered finalists.
- If there is a need to break a tie between works that have obtained the same score, the first criterion will be to suppress the lowest scores received by each work. If the tie persists, the oldest judge in charge of judging the category will decide which works will be accepted as finalists.
- In the second stage, the Evaluation Committee will select the winner of each category from among the finalist works.
- The Evaluation Committee will be composed of as many members as necessary for an adequate evaluation of the works entered.
- The Evaluation Committee will be composed, at the sole discretion of the organizers, of at least 5 (five) members, with the oldest juror having the casting vote in cases where necessary.
- The members of the Evaluation Committee will be chosen from professionals with effective experience acquired through work in the media and/or professionals linked to the area and psychiatrists, with decisions being sovereign, in compliance with the provisions of these Regulations, and free from any interference by the sponsor, and no type of challenge or appeal will be allowed, for any reason whatsoever. No other distinction will be awarded other than those provided for in these Regulations.
