Apply for Co-funding Award (Ireland)

Deadline: 7 December 2023

The Arts Council invites applications from arts organisations based in Ireland for the Co-funding Award.

Purpose and Priorities of the Award

  • The purpose and priorities of this award align with the Arts Council’s ten-year strategy (2016–25), Making Great Art Work: Leading the Development of the Arts in Ireland, and are:
    • Activities that recognise the value of international practice and relationships for both the applicant organisation and for individual artists
    • Activities that demonstrate the promotion and development of good practice in the area of audience development along with deepening and growing public engagement in Ireland
    • Activities that contribute to ensuring the arts sector is skilled, resourceful and committed to its own renewal.

Co-funding Award 2024 Strands

The Co-funding Award 2024 is subdivided by strands.

  • Strand 1: Co-funding Award for Creative Europe Cooperation Projects commencing in 2024
    • The primary purpose of Strand 1 of this award is to enable Irish organisations that have secured funding for artistic activities under the Cooperation Projects strands of the Creative Europe Programme 2021–27 to apply for co-funding.
    • Funding will be considered to support those elements of Irish arts activities that align with the objectives and priorities of this award.
  • Strand 2: Co-funding Award for Partner Meetings in preparation for Creative Europe Cooperation Project applications
    • The primary purpose of Strand 2 of this award is to enable Irish organisations to apply for support towards meetings with potential European partners in preparation for applications to the Cooperation Projects strand of the Creative Europe Programme 2021–2027.
    • Funding will be considered to support costs towards flights, accommodation and subsistence related directly to meetings planned with potential European partners to take place in Europe.

Funding Information

  • Strand 1: Co-funding Award for Creative Europe Cooperation Projects commencing in 2024
    • Funding towards the Irish partner’s required financial contribution to the project (for eligible arts activities only) in what will be a competitive context. (Example: your organisation’s total budget for the project is €50,000; of this, your portion of the EACEA grant is €30,000, which leaves €20,000 for you to raise. In this example, €20,000 is the maximum that you can apply for. However, the Arts Council will expect to see a mixed funding model and does not expect to be the sole source of additional income.)
  • Strand 2: Co-funding Award for Partner Meetings in preparation for Creative Europe Cooperation Projects applications
    • €2,000

Who can Apply?

Both strands of the award are open only to arts organisations based in Ireland.

  • Strand 1: Arts organisations based in Ireland must have received an offer of funding, either as lead co-ordinator or partner, from Creative Europe Cooperation Projects in 2023. Applications from non-arts organisations will be eligible only where an Irish arts organisation has been identified as a participant in the project and where Arts Council support will be used for the benefit of the arts partner’s Irish activities. Applications for a Co-funding Award for Creative Europe Cooperation Projects must be made in the same calendar year in which an offer of funding is received from the EACEA.
  • Strand 2: Arts organisations based in Ireland must be applying to undertake planned meetings with potential European partners in preparation for a Creative Europe Cooperation Project application.

Who cannot Apply?

Applicants who cannot apply include the following:

  • Organisations not based in the Republic of Ireland
  • Organisations that have not received funding from Creative Europe Cooperation Projects in 2023. Applies to Strand 1 applicants only
  • Film projects are not eligible for support under Strand 2.
