The Creative Industries Fund NL is seeking applications for the Internationalization of the Design Sector Grant Scheme to support projects in the fields of design, architecture, digital culture and the crossovers between them, which are aimed at research and cooperation in an international context and whose activities mainly take place abroad.
This grant scheme is open to projects by professional makers, spectators, design agencies, cultural institutions or organizations that are realized in collaboration with one or more international partners and whose activities mainly take place abroad.
Scope and Objective
- This grant scheme applies exclusively to projects aimed at research and collaboration in an international context.
- The grant scheme is open to projects initiated by professional makers, observers, design agencies or cultural institutions or organizations, that are entered into in collaboration with one or more international partners. Projects contribute to strengthening international exchanges and long-term international collaboration within the context of the Dutch creative industry.
- The grant scheme complements the Fund’s following policy objectives: strengthening the international position of design disciplines.
Funding Information
- The following grants may be provided:
- regular project grant, co-financing is required
- a starting grant to explore the possibilities of a project, up to a maximum of € 7,500, co-financing is not required
Eligible Projects
- The grant scheme is for projects aimed at research and collaboration in an international context, and whose activities mainly take place abroad, with one or more international partner(s). From the context of the Dutch creative industry, the projects should contribute to strengthening international exchange and sustainable international cooperation.
Eligibility Criteria
- In addition, the following conditions must be met:
- The applicant is registered in the Commercial Register of the Dutch Chamber of Commerce or at one of the Chambers of Commerce that fall within the Kingdom of the Netherlands or a foreign equivalent;
- the project starts within six months after the date of the decision;
- the project period is no longer than 24 months;
- there is a budget deficit and, in the board’s opinion, the need for a grant has been demonstrated;
- based on the applicant’s working method, it can reasonably be expected that the goals set by the applicant will be achieved;
- the applicant did not fall short in complying with its grant obligations in the context of a project for which the Fund previously provided a grant;
- the results will be published or made publicly accessible in another way.
- In addition to the conditions referred to in paragraphs 1 and 2 of this article, the board reviews the following aspects of the application:
- Travel safety: the board will check whether, at the time of the planned trip, any travel restrictions or urgent advice apply/applies to international travel to the country in question.
- Sustainability: the board encourages sustainable travel. If a train journey necessary for the project is eight hours at most, the board only compensates the costs for travelling by land.
- All cultural institutions or organizations involved in an application and that are located in the Kingdom of the Netherlands subscribe and adhere to the following codes:
- Diversity and Inclusion Code;
- Governance Code Culture 2019.
- The applicant applies the principles of the Fair Practice Code when implementing and accounting for the project.
Ineligible
- No grant is provided to or for:
- institutions that have a structural grant relationship with the Dutch Government or that have received a grant under the Four-year Institutional Grant Scheme for the Creative Industry 2021-2024;
- projects that have already been subsidized by the Fund under the Architecture Grant Scheme, Design Grant Scheme or Digital Culture Grant Scheme, with the exception of a starting grant;
- projects initiated by applicants who, during the project period, have already received support for the implementation of their development plan under the Talent Development Grant Programme for the Creative Industry from the Fund;
- projects for which, at the time of the application, an application is already being processed under another Fund grant scheme;
- activities that have already taken place or started before the date of the decision;
- projects with no reasonable amount of co-financing given the setup of the project;
- projects for which an application is submitted again, after having been rejected by the board entirely or partially, with no changes in circumstances or new facts being specified by the applicant;
- projects for which grant applications have already been submitted twice before and which were rejected or negatively assessed;
- applications that are not submitted on time or that are incomplete;
- applications that are specifically aimed at an artist-in-residence programme;
- applications for stand-alone presentations abroad;
- educational programmes;
- Dutch higher professional education institutions or universities;
- educational study trips;
- study or training course projects;
- projects concerning a reprise or reissue;
- serial production;
- employment costs of employees of government, provincial and municipal bodies;
- acquisition of property, materials or equipment that will have a value after the end of a project;
- normal interior, building and renovation costs;
- activities and costs directly related to the founding of a company or organization; and
- activities that do not go above and beyond the regular business activities.
