Southeast Asia One Health University Network (SEAOHUN) is inviting applications from individuals, organizations, or agencies to create One Health online courses for the SEA-OHWA platform.
Southeast Asia One Health Workforce Academies (SEA-OHWA) is an online platform offering competency-based training, and continuous professional development under the SEAOHUN Transition Award (TA) project supported by USAID. This platform has adopted the concept from the One Health Workforce Academies (OHWA) developed by the USAID One Health Workforce – Next Generation (OHW-NG) project. SEA-OHWA is designed to expand access and promote local expertise within the SEAOHUN member countries’ specific contexts. Therefore, courses and materials in SEA-OHWA encourage the content in local languages, catering to frontline health professionals, students in health-related disciplines, and One Health interested individuals.
These courses will encompass a comprehensive array of online learning components, such as course materials, lecture videos, animation videos, interactive learning elements, case scenarios, role-play exercises, assessments and quizzes.
Objective
- To create One Health course for the SEA-OHWA that addresses contributes to specific needs and priorities of One Health workforce in Vietnam.
Priority Areas for Vietnam
- One Health Workforces Beneficiaries survey and the One Health Core Competencies Assessment survey revealed the following gaps and needs in One Health domains:
- Infectious disease managements
- Outbreak investigation and response
- Systems thinking
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation
- One Health Research
- SEAOHUN encouraged the applicants to focus on those priority areas in their application though it is not limited only to those areas. These courses should incorporate a wide array of online learning components, encompassing course materials, lecture videos, interactive learning elements, case scenarios, role-play exercises, quizzes, and the establishment of passing scores.
Funding Information
- The total budget for each course should not exceed 5,000 USD. All costs must be billed as direct costs.
Guidelines for Developing the course
- Content level: SEAOHUN encourages to develop the basic level One Health courses, preferably in a self-paced online course (asynchronous).
- Course duration: The duration of a single course should be 3-6 hours.
- Methodology: The course should be designed with a basis of competency based on a variety of interactive delivery and assessment methods. All the online courses should be accompanied by a variety of evaluation methodology such as quizzes or other interactive assessments. If an instructor is applying with a hybrid course (combining online courses plus in-person classroom/field activities), the rationale and the expected results should be clearly mentioned in the proposal and will be considered on a case-by-case basis. The presentation or video content should not be longer than 10 minutes each.
- Topic: SEAOHUN encouraged the applicants to focus on those priority areas in their application though it is not limited only to those areas. Priority areas for Vietnamese One Health Workforces includes Infectious disease managements, Outbreak investigation and response, One Health research, Risk assessment and mitigation, and Systems Thinking.
- Language: During the course development, such as course outline and storyboard, English will advantage in the reviewing process. However, the courses can be developed in Vietnamese.
- Structure: the online course should include but not limited to:
- Outlines
- Learning objectives
- Learning outcomes
- Content (for example, Lecture videos, Animation videos, Lecture handouts or presentation)
- case study, role play, or any interactive learning methods
- Evaluation: Quiz
Deliverables
- Deliverable 1: A comprehensive project proposal outlining all components including but not limited to project goals, objectives, timelines, budget, methodologies, tools, and the referenced documents.
- Deliverable 2: Storyboards for each module, comprising module titles, competencies, learning objectives, slide text, audio text, visuals, learning assessments, and additional readings or resources.
- Deliverable 3: A collection of learning resources for each module, which includes PowerPoint slides, lecture videos, voice-over audio files, technical documents, quizzes, and other materials utilized for learning purposes.
- Deliverable 4: The final online course delivered in a compatible format. Preferably, SCORM for online courses and MP4 format for videos.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants may submit the proposal as individuals or groups.
- Applicants must be citizens of Vietnam.
- Faculty members of Vietnam One Health University network (VOHUN) member universities or Vietnamese in-service health professionals are highly encouraged to apply.
- Collaboration between members from backgrounds in public health, medicines, veterinary medicine, environmental science, or wildlife health is highly encouraged.
- Experience in developing online courses and conducting remote teaching or training is advantageous.
- Strong commitment to delivering high-quality, engaging, and effective educational content aligned with the One Health principles and concepts.
