Project Support for Innovative Communication and Informative Conversation about Science and Technology in Denmark

Deadline: 3 September 2025

The Novo Nordisk Foundation is accepting grant applications to promote interest, knowledge and skills in science and technology among children, young people and the population in Denmark in general.

The purpose of this announcement is to contribute to engagement and interest in science and technology, as well as to facilitate communication and qualified public debate on topics within science and technology, including health and sustainability.

Support can be sought for projects that communicate and facilitate knowledge-based conversation in a creative and engaging manner on topics within scientific research, technological development, sustainability, climate, energy production and health.

Funding Information

  • A total of up to DKK 23 million is available for project grants of DKK 100,000-4,300,000 for a duration of up to 6 years.

Eligible Expenses

  • Applicants can apply for support for the following project expenses:
    • Remuneration of employees or those associated with the project at all job levels, including project management
    • Permanently employed researchers in permanent positions at universities and university colleges can apply for funding for temporary cover for the time they spend on a development project if the project goes beyond their job description (e.g. dissemination of scientific research to target groups outside the university).
    • Operating expenses in the form of direct costs for the development, implementation and operation of projects, including materials and equipment
    • Transportation expenses related to the project, e.g. in connection with conferences, workshop participation or knowledge sharing of project results
    • Evaluation in connection with development projects
    • External audit, if the managing institution is not subject to ongoing public audit. Institutions not subject to audit by public authorities may include costs for this in the final budget year of the project
    • Administrative contribution (up to 5 percent of, and included in, the application’s total budget) to cover administrative expenses directly related to the anchoring of the applied project at the administering institution.

Ineligible Expenses

  • Support is not provided for:
    • Commercial purposes
    • Buildings
    • Overhead (e.g. rent, water, electricity, heating, maintenance)

Eligibility Criteria

  • During the grant period, the applicant must be the project manager at the project’s managing institution. The project’s managing institution must be a public institution and/or non-profit organization, including educational institutions, municipalities, research institutions, museums or associations in the Danish Kingdom.
  • Private companies and producers can apply for support for non-commercial projects with a public benefit purpose. In this case, the company itself is the managing institution.

Evaluation Criteria

  • Applications will be evaluated by the Novo Nordisk Foundation’s Committee for Innovative Communication and Informative Conversation based on the following criteria:
    • The project’s compliance with the purpose of the announcement
    • The qualifications and capacity of the applicant and the applicant institution, with emphasis on relevance to the applied project.
    • The professional quality of the project, including the quality of its reach, commitment and impact
    • Originality, relevance and importance of the proposed project
    • The project’s justification in relation to existing initiatives in the area
    • The project’s short- and long-term goals and how the project’s goals are aligned with the dissemination method to the target group and the resources used
    • Scalability and opportunities for national rollout
    • The project’s plan, methodology and feasibility, including a plan for evaluation and knowledge sharing
    • Expected benefits for the specific target group as well as benefits in the form of knowledge accumulation and long-term effects
    • The qualifications and capacity of any co-applicants/collaborators.
