Applicants are now invited to submit applications for the Joint Egyptian Japanese Scientific Cooperation to establish a new cooperation or to further advance an existing one in areas of mutual interest.
In addition, the program will promote exchange visits between Egyptian and Japanese scientists and will support the coordination of joint seminars laying the ground for a longer-term relationship.

Funding Information
- STDF will provide funding of up to 750,000 Egyptian Pounds per year (Up to 1,500,000 in total) per project to the Egyptian team, and JSPS will provide annual funding of up to JPY 2,500,000 per fiscal year (Up to JPY 5,000,000 in total) per project to the Japanese team.
- The starting date shall be in the period between 1 August 2026 and 31 December 2026.
Eligibility Criteria
- Teams of researchers consisting of at least one Egyptian and one Japanese researcher are eligible for funding.
- Teams have to be based at Egyptian and Japanese research organizations and should be working in their home countries.
- Egyptian state and private institutions of higher education, research institutions or commercial enterprises including SMEs are eligible for funding.
- Eligibility for Japanese researchers.

- Scientific excellence
- Feasibility of the research plan
- Necessity of cooperation added value, and mutual research advancement through transfer of knowledge and expertise
- Participation of young researchers
- Quality and originality of the envisaged research approach
- Preferably, the research area covered lies within the national priority areas of scientific research
- Quality of the research team

- CVs of all Egyptian and Japanese research team members (The Egyptian PI time% should not be less than 40% and not exceeding 80%)
- Scanned copy of the Institutional Endorsement letter (signed and stamped by the legal representative -president- of the University/Research center and states that the proposal idea was not funded or submitted to another agency, national or international)
- Acknowledgement form should be signed & stamped by the president of the Egyptian PI’s institution (university/research centers) and the PI of the project
