Series Mania is currently accepting applications from authors and producers from African, Caribbean and Pacific countries returns for a fourth edition of DEENTAL Series Workshops.
The DEENTAL Series Workshops is a professional workshop for authors and producers from African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries, launched jointly by the Series Mania, Dakar Series festivals, and the CNC in the framework of the DEENTAL-ACP program (with the financial collaboration of the European Union and the support of the organization of ACP States), in partnership with FESPACO, and with the support of the French Institute and the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs.
The Residence
- For this new year, a big novelty: the evolution of the workshop into a complete and more ambitious program for 5 pairs of authors-ices-producers.ices from African, Caribbean and Pacific countries, with addition of online monitoring and a second workshop at Dakar Séries, a pan-African series festival.
- Thus, 5 projects carried by duos composed of a screenwriter and a producer will be selected in order to take part in the intensive workshop week in Lille, from March 14 to 21, 2024 , in parallel with the international festival of Mania Series and its Professional Forum .
- Accompanied by their mentors, the teams will have the opportunity to follow conferences around the industry of series, showcases, screenings, pitch sessions and meet professionals accredited to Series Mania Forum.
- Then, from May 5 to 12, 2024, the leaders of the selected projects will participate in a second training workshop in Dakar. They will have the chance to participate in the Dakar Séries festival , a pan-African series festival , where they will pitch their project in front of the professionals present and will subsequently be able to meet them.
What is the support?
- Program selection includes, for the duration of the program:
- Round-trip transport costs between the participant’s place of residence and the city of Lille, then the city of Dakar
- Accommodation in Lille and Dakar
- Meals covered for the 2 workshops
- Participation in the activities offered by the program (including accreditation)
What is the working language?
- The entire training will be done in English (workshops, masterclasses, individual courses), as well as the pitches and individual meetings which will take place during the Mania Forum Series. It is therefore essential to be able to express oneself in English in a professional context. Interviews will be carried out following selection to ensure the level of English of each participant.
Who can apply?
- To be eligible, candidates must meet the following conditions:
- be a national of an ACP country
- be able to communicate in English in a professional setting
- carry out a fiction series project (in French or English)
- be looking for financial partners or international co-producers.
