The BBVA Foundation’s Leonardo Grants support the work of researchers and cultural creators in the middle stages of their careers who can demonstrate a highly innovative track record in the realms of science, technology or culture.

Funding Information
- Global funding under this call is set at 2,750,000 euros.
- At least 55 grants will be given, each for a maximum gross amount of 50,000 euros.
- The projects submitted will have an execution period of between 12 and 18 months as of the date of signing the grant acceptance statement.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants will be individual researchers or cultural creators of Spanish nationality resident in Spain or nationals of other countries resident in Spain under the terms set out in these call conditions. Residence must be proved by furnishing the documents.
- Applicants must be between 30 and 45 years of age (inclusive) at the time of application.
- This call is not open to legal persons of any kind, including associations, partnerships or groupings of applicants under any other type of associative formula.
- If the project submitted is to be carried out in a university, public research center, private (non-profit) research center or hospital, the applicant must be attached to that center at the time of signing the grant acceptance statement.
- Past recipients of a BBVA Foundation Leonardo Grant will not be eligible for this call.
- The grant applied for must be the primary and preferably sole source of funding for the project proposed in this call. In the event that any other funding has been sought or obtained for the submitted project, this should be expressly stated in the application form, identifying the source, amount and object of the same.
Application Requirements
- The following information and documentation must be provided via the online form:
- Basic identifying details of the applicant and the project.
- Summary of the applicant’s research or creative career (maximum 2,000 characters, with spaces).
- Project summary (maximum 2,000 characters, with spaces).
- Short CV of the applicant, with particular emphasis on the past 5 years (maximum 5 DIN A4 pages).
- Up to five contributions which the applicant considers the most representative of their career. These can be provided in any language accompanied by a summary in Spanish or English.
- Up to two letters of reference from researchers or experts in the relevant field who have direct knowledge of the applicant’s contributions. These letters should be provided by the signatory via the online form before the submission deadline.
