The DevNet is pleased to announce its DevNet Pacific Development Research Write-Up Grants to provide researchers in Aotearoa New Zealand and the Pacific with more opportunities for discussion, debate, and dissemination of their research findings on international development.
The goal of the Grant is to support early and mid-career development researchers of Pacific nationalities and based at Pacific universities to have their research findings prepared for publication in a reputable peer-reviewed academic journal.
Objectives
- The Grant will support the dissemination of development research produced by Pacific scholars, by providing development researchers studying or working at Pacific Universities with the support needed to have their research findings prepared for submission to a peer-reviewed academic journal.
Funding Information
- The value of each Grant will be NZ$2,000.
Eligible Costs
- Buyout teaching/support mechanism applied to early or mid-career researchers
- Participate in a writing retreat.
- A daily allowance of $40 is applied to fresh graduate students with no other sources of income.
Expected Outcomes
- Increasing accessibility to new research on international development.
- Creating new collaborations among university researchers in Aotearoa and the Pacific.
Eligibility Criteria
- Be a postgraduate student, early career or mid-career staff member at a university located in the South Pacific region.
- Be of Pacific nationality.
- Have completed the research they wish to write up within the last two years on a development subject pertinent to the Pacific region.
- Not have previously published findings from the selected research.
Selection Criteria
- Quality of the Abstract and Article Outline.
- Potential of the research findings to contribute to developmentknowledge, policy, or practice.
- Potential of applicant as indicated by:
- Applicant personal statement
- Academic Curriculum Vitae
- Applications are complete, with all required information provided.
Application Requirements
- The Academic CV should include a publication list and should not exceed three pages.
- The Abstract and Outline should be in keeping with the requirements of the Journal to which the applicant intends to submit the article, and include the article title, the abstract and main headings.
