Journalistic Production Grant: ‘ The Paths of Inclusive Recycling in Latin America’

The Gabo Foundation and Latitud R are opening the call for applications for the journalistic production grant ‘ The paths of inclusive recycling in Latin America’ to promote journalistic investigations that explore the dimensions, challenges and opportunities of inclusive recycling in Latin America, highlighting it as a concrete example of the circular economy.

Funding Information

The winner of the scholarship will receive three important benefits: first, a grant of USD 4,500 to carry out journalistic coverage in three Latin American countries; second, personalized advice from Latitud R experts to address specific topics and situations in each country; and third, access to detailed information on specific cases, including relevant sources and data, which will enrich the investigative project.

Eligibility Criteria

Independent journalists or those linked to media outlets in Latin America, preferably with experience in covering the topics covered by the call.

Selection Criteria

The proposals will be reviewed by a selection committee made up of members of the Gabo Foundation and Latitud R team, who will take into account the following criteria:
- Clarity of the proposal: proposed methodology for the research and production of journalistic work.
- Relevance and originality of the topic: importance, relevance and originality of the proposed approach or perspective.
- Experience and track record of the applicant: previous experience of the journalist or team in the related topic or area.
- Potential impact: impact expected to be achieved with the proposed journalistic work.
- Feasibility: technical and logistical viability of the proposed project. Ability of the journalist to carry out the project effectively.

Application Requirements

A proposal for journalistic work, which includes:
- A description of the proposed journalistic investigation, of no more than 400 words, that includes a plan for coverage in the three countries chosen from among the possible combinations:
  - Argentina, Chile, Bolivia
  - Brazil, Peru, Bolivia
  - Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala
  - Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico
- A schedule and budget (attached in registration form) indicating the activities, deadlines and costs of the work.
- An autobiography (not a resume), of no more than 300 words, describing your career in journalism and your interest in addressing the topic described in your proposal.
- A sample of at least 2 journalistic works that you have published in the last year.
- A letter of support from the media outlet in which the journalistic research produced as a result of the grant is expected to be published.
