The task of the Nordic Working Environment Committee is to contribute to the implementation of the cooperation program in the area of working life in the Nordic Council of Ministers.
The overall focus of the program reflects the Nordic Council of Ministers’ Vision 2030 that the Nordic region in 2030 should be the world’s most integrated and sustainable region, as well as the vision’s three priority areas: A green, competitive and socially sustainable Nordic region.
The Working Environment Committee’s most important function is to promote a common Nordic experience and knowledge base for the further development and modernization of working environment policy and management in the Nordic countries.
The aim of the cooperation in the area of the working environment is to ensure a good and sustainable physical and psychological working environment for everyone throughout their working careers. Important tools are first and foremost good and effective preventive work environment work in the businesses in cooperation between the local employers and the employees.
Theme
- The Working Environment Committee seeks research that provides information and practical recommendations and solutions, which working environment experts and supervisory authorities can use to deal with future working environment problems, and which falls within the following theme:
- Psychosocial and organizational work environment:
- In 2025, the work environment committee will focus on psychosocial work environment (organizational and social work environment) with the aim of:
- Strengthen the science-based knowledge of what kind of organizational measures reduce risks in the psychosocial work environment and effectively prevent work-related ill health and work incapacity in the long term
- Strengthen knowledge about practical challenges in preventive work environment work and about concrete solutions and good practice that contribute to systematic preventive work with psychosocial work environment
- Strengthen knowledge of effective supervisory methods in the area as well as evaluation of the effects of the supervisory authorities’ supervisory efforts.

Funding Information
- In 2025, there will be 2.7 million. DKK for distribution to support relevant projects. The application must include an activity and timetable for carrying out the project and using the funds.
Eligibility Criteria
- The main focus will be on the Nordics and the Baltic countries.
- For the application to be assessed, it must be documented that at least three Nordic countries or two Nordic countries plus a minimum of one non-Nordic country actively participate in the project.
- The committee assesses the applications based on criteria regarding the project’s relevance within the framework of the project announcement, academic content, the project’s novelty value/development of new knowledge, Nordic usefulness and professional qualifications in the project group. In addition, an assessment is made of whether it is likely that the project will be completed within the estimated time and budget.
- The Working Environment Committee prioritizes fewer but larger projects that create real Nordic benefit.
