Submit Applications for MAPSA Fellowship Program (Myanmar)

This fellowship aims to support innovative and impactful research on Myanmar and professional development of Myanmar Nationals pursuing a PhD in agricultural economics, development economics, climate and the environment, and/or food security and nutrition. Fellows will have the opportunity to contribute to MASPA objectives to support the people of Myanmar to increase household resilience and food security in the face of significant political and economic challenges.

Objectives 

• The MAPSA Fellowship is designed to:
  • Encourage high-quality research on Myanmar in agricultural economics, development economics, climate and the environment and/or food security and nutrition.
  • Promote the application of research to solve real-world challenges in Myanmar.
  • Facilitate professional development through mentorship, peer networking, and hands-on learning experiences.

Benefits

• Selected fellows will receive:
  • Financial Support: Up to US $10,000 to cover research expenses (surveys, travel, conference participation). Financial support cannot be used for tuition, stipends, and laborrelated expenses.
  • Mentorship: Access to a network of leading professionals and experts in agricultural economics, development economics, food security and nutrition.
  • Professional Development Opportunities: Training sessions, workshops, and networking events.
  • Publication Support: Guidance on publishing findings and presenting research at conferences or seminars.

Eligibility Criteria

• Open to Myanmar Nationals currently enrolled in a PhD program.

Selection Criteria

• Proposals will be evaluated based on:
  • Relevance to the fellowship’s theme and objectives.
  • Innovation: The originality of the proposed approach or idea.
  • Feasibility: Realistic planning and likelihood of successful completion. Potential Impact: Contribution to knowledge, policy, or practice.

Application Requirements

• Eligible applicants are invited to submit a proposal (limited to six pages) that includes:
  • Project Title and Abstract: A brief summary (up to 300 words) of the proposed research or project.
  • Statement of Purpose: Describe the motivation, objectives, and expected impact of the research or project.
  • Methodology: Outline the methods to be used in the research or project.
  • Work Plan: A timeline detailing the phases of the project.
  • Budget: An estimated budget, specifying how funds will be allocated.
  • CV: A curriculum vitae highlighting relevant experience, publications, and achievements (1- 2 pages).
