CFPs: Cultural Access Priority Area Projects for Individuals and Organisations (Australia)

The NWS Government is seeking applications for its Cultural Access Priority Area Projects to support individuals and organisations that are led by and/or support specific communities to develop and deliver a diverse range of arts and cultural experiences for artists, arts workers, communities, and audiences.

Objectives

  • In response to Creative Communities, the NSW arts, culture and creative industries policy, the purpose of this funding is to strengthen communities through equitable access to vibrant arts and cultural experiences.
  • This funding will:
    • enable the creation and presentation of new work designed and led by priority and target creative practitioners, groups, businesses, and organisations in NSW.
    • strengthen communities through equitable access to arts and cultural experiences.
    • develop diverse cultural leadership within the arts and cultural ecosystem.
    • enhance the visibility of new work by prioritised NSW artists and arts/cultural workers.
    • strengthen the creative ecosystem through collaborations and partnerships.
    • support access to resources and expertise for individual artists.
  • contribute to personal and community wellbeing and economic development.

Funding Information

  • Grant amount: Up to $10,000 to $100,000.

Eligible Costs

  • Costs you need to cover to make sure your project is a success:
    • Renting or hiring of space for workshops, rehearsals, shows, exhibitions or presentations
    • Travel and accommodation costs related to your project
    • Fees for development opportunities, mentorships, workshops and courses related to the research and development of the project
    • Marketing and promotion expenses
    • Costs of materials for the creation of new work
    • Costs to support aboriginal protocols
    • Costs to support accessibility

Ineligible Costs

  • Projects or activities that directly support the delivery or course requirements of an educational institution’s program or course
  • Projects or activities that are led by people who aren’t professional artists, arts and cultural workers, or creatives
  • Paying back money for items you’ve already bought
  • Buying equipment that isn’t directly used in your project
  • Capital Works (infrastructure/building works).
  • Fundraising and donations
  • Awards, prizes, competitions, or prize money
  • Paying back loans.

Eligible Projects

  • The project or activity must be a clearly defined arts and cultural activity that benefits individual NSW artists or arts and cultural workers. It must involve creative development and/or the presentation of new work.
  • Some examples of what may be funded under this grant are but not limited to:
    • An Indonesian dance collective developing a series of workshops with a community performance outcome.
    • A Western Sydney writing collective employing a CaLD mentor to develop work for publication in an anthology.
    • A d/Deaf arts or cultural worker employing a cohort of d/Deaf facilitators to work with their local community and arts and cultural organisations to explore and address barriers to participation.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Individuals:
    • Individuals must be 18 years or above
    • Located in NSW for the last 12 months.
  • Groups:
    • Group members must be 18 years or above
    • Group members must all have been located in NSW for the last 12 months.
    • The application must be submitted by an individual on behalf of the group.
  • Organisations:
    • NSW-based organisations, including Local Government Authorities.
    • Non-NSW based organisations

Ineligibility Criteria

  • Ineligible applicants:
    • Have received funding before from Create NSW or Sound NSW for the same part of their project.
    • Have already started their project.
    • Will start or finish the project before the funding period starts.
    • Are State or federal government department/agency, including state cultural institutions.
    • Are schools and educational institutions.
    • Key Festivals, State Significant Organisations & a National Performing Arts Partnership Organisation.
    • Receiving Create NSW ACFP Multi-year funding or Annual Organisation Funding.
    • Want funding related to films, TV shows, or film festivals.
    • Want funding related to contemporary.
    • Are employed by Create NSW or were employed in the last 12 months.

Application Requirements

  • All applications must demonstrate that the project is led by and/or supports one of the following Strategic Priority Areas:
    • First Nations stories and communities
    • Accessibility and equity
    • Regional NSW
    • Western Sydney
    • Broad and inclusive communities and content
    • Next generation of creatives and audiences
  • Other additional eligibility requirements are:
    • The project must start after 7 April 2025 and be completed by 30 June 2026.
    • Organisations will need to provide a description of their workplace safety and wellbeing activities and policy.
    • You can only submit one project application in this project funding round. This project funding round includes Next Steps, Creative Steps, Cultural Access and Creative Nations Projects.
    • If you are successful for funding in this project round, you can’t apply in the next round of project funding. This project funding round includes Next Steps, Creative Steps, Cultural Access and Creative Nations Projects.
