The Pfizer is requesting applications for its Independent Medical Education Grant Program to encourage organizations to submit grant applications for independent medical education initiatives that will increase healthcare professional’s understanding of patients living with Inflammatory Bowel Disease.
Focus Areas
- Clinical Area: IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease)
- Projects that will be considered for Pfizer support will focus on providing state of the art education to HCPs on diagnosis, monitoring and management of patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease.
- Projects that will be considered for Pfizer support will focus on providing education to Primary Care Physicians, Internal Medicine Specialists, gastroenterologists or non-gastroenterologists involved in the diagnosis and treatment of IBD patients.
- This may include but are not limited to the following areas:
- Enhance medical and scientific knowledge and equip HCPs with understanding of diagnosis and management of UC through below topics:
- Current and future advanced therapy, newer mechanism of action
- Sequencing of therapies
- Multidisciplinary management, including Extra-intestinal manifestations
- Hands on training on newer techniques for diagnosis and monitoring e.g. Intestinal Ultrasound
- Practical workshops on complex cases, subgroups of special interest etc. to enhance comprehension of available data in order to improve patient outcomes.
- Enhance medical and scientific knowledge and equip HCPs with understanding of diagnosis and management of UC through below topics:
Funding Information
- Individual projects requesting up to $35,000 USD.
Target Audience
- Members of multidisciplinary teams that care for IBD patients including but not limited to Gastroenterologists, Pharmacists, Specialty Nurses, Psychologists and other Physicians.

Eligibility Criteria
- Only organizations are eligible to receive grants, not individuals or medical practice groups (i.e., an independent group of physicians not affiliated with a hospital, academic institution, or professional society).
- The following may apply: nursing, allied health, and/or pharmacy professional schools; healthcare institutions (both large and small); professional organizations/medical societies; medical education companies; and other entities with a mission related to healthcare professional education and/or healthcare improvement.
- If the project involves multiple departments within an institution and/or between different institutions/organizations/associations, all institutions must have a relevant role and the requesting organization must have a key role in the project.
- The project/program lead must have a medical or postdoctoral degree (MD, PhD, or equivalent), an advanced nursing degree (BSN with a MS/PhD), or a degree in Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, or Social Work.
- The applicant must be the project/program lead or an authorized designee of such individual (e.g., project/program lead’s grant coordinator).
- The project/program lead must be an employee or contractor of the requesting organization.
- Requesting organization must be legally able to receive award funding directly from Pfizer Inc. They strongly recommend that applicants confirm this with their organization or institution prior to submitting an application. Grants awarded to organizations that are subsequently found to be unable to accept funding directly from Pfizer Inc. may be subject to rescission.
