The U.S. Embassy in Lebanon is delighted to announce the Study of the United States Institutes Program to provide university faculty and other scholars with the opportunity to deepen their understanding of U.S. society, culture, and institutions.
The goal is to strengthen curricula and to enhance the quality of teaching about the United States in academic institutions abroad.

Cost Covered
- As with all U.S. Embassy-sponsored programs, the U.S. Government pays for all major expenses, including roundtrip airfare, shared accommodation during the program, meals, and health insurance.
Eligibility Criteria
- To be eligible to apply for the program, candidates must:
- Hold the Lebanese nationality or holders of the Special Travel Document for Palestinian Refugees. U.S. citizens or green card holders are not eligible to apply.
- be between the ages of 30-50, university-level faculty or professionals from research focused organizations (non-profits, think tanks, etc.) and holders of at least a graduate (Masters) degree.
- be comfortable with campus life, shared accommodation, and an active program schedule. American citizens or green card holders are not eligible to apply.
- Ideal candidates will have little or no prior experience in the United States and whose home institution is seeking to introduce aspects of U.S. studies into its curricula.
