The Saxony-Anhalt Arts Foundation to support exhibition projects on contemporary art with the “Frei-Raum” Funding Program.
The program includes the possibility of applying for an annual plan for a gallery in addition to individual exhibition projects and exhibition blocks. Exhibition projects that create communication and exchange between artists and the public and that place art, especially from Saxony-Anhalt, in the public eye are funded. The concept of the program is not necessarily aimed at fixed locations, but also wants to encourage the development of new, unusual spatial concepts.
Funding Information
- The art foundation supports artists, artist groups or initiatives, galleries and art associations with up to 15,000 euros per year.
Eligible Expenses
- Grants are provided for rental and operating costs, material costs for exhibition setup, fees for curators and supervisors, insurance, transport costs, public relations work and catalogues accompanying exhibitions.
Ineligible Expenses
- Investments (e.g. purchase of technology and permanent fixtures for the exhibition rooms) are excluded.
Eligibility Criteria
- Artists, artist groups or artist initiatives, galleries, art associations and curators whose residence/headquarters are in Saxony-Anhalt are eligible to apply.
Application Requirements
- The application documents include:
- A sketch of ideas that highlights what is special about the concept
- An exhibition concept or a draft program that shows planned exhibitions and the duration of the overall project
- A short description of the planned exhibition(s)
- Work samples (A4, photocopiable, no catalogues) of the artists shown in each exhibition and their CVs
- CVs of the applicants and, if applicable, CVs of the curators
- An overview of the planned opening hours of the exhibition space or gallery
- A detailed cost and financing plan.
