Call for Nominations: Green Gas & Future Solutions Award

Deadline: 15 November 2024

The CEGIBAT is very pleased to launch the 2nd edition of its competition for students! For this competition, you have the choice between 2 very complementary categories, each focusing on key themes: Green Gas and Solutions for the Future.

Your fresh perspective and creativity are strengths to support them in this reflection. And don’t forget that a team composed of different profiles (engineers, architects, urban planners, etc.) is an asset to bring a cross-disciplinary perspective to the project.

Categories

  • Green Gas:
    • Find the solution to promote renewable gas and encourage its consumption.
    • Renewable gas comes from the natural fermentation of organic waste, it combines many advantages: it helps reduce CO2 emissions compared to fossil fuels, it helps to recover waste, allows to create energy but also digestate (excellent fertilizer), it promotes the energy independence by encouraging the short and local circuit (less import of gas from other countries), it allows rural and agricultural development (creation of non-relocatable jobs, diversification of income have a strong societal impact), finally this renewable gas offers a varied use (heat, mobility-transport, process).
    • Methanization production sites are booming, with new sites opening every week!
    • What would be your ideas to make this energy better known to consumers? How to make them discover all its assets and the benefits it provides on all prisms (environmental, societal, energy, circular economy).
    • A single watchword: make customers want to consume green gas, think about its democratization.
  • Future solutions:
    • Imagine the equipment of the future (heating/hot water), all gas vectors are possible.
    • Surprise them with an energy and system approach, have a multi-criteria approach: think about size, positioning, sizing, needs and also network interconnection!
    • Your solution will power a building (collective housing, apartment, individual house or even commercial building).
    • In this category they will take into account the flexibility of energy systems; which implies working on the regulation and hybridization of systems.

Challenge Stages

  • Phase 1: Application Phase:
    • Form a team of 2-5 students, use your creative skills to produce:
      • The  top 10 teams will be selected to move on to the next step, the in-depth phase.
  • Phase 2: Deepening Phase:
    • If your team has been selected, you will be paired with mentors from the organizing company with expertise in the relevant field. They will help improve the submitted proposal.
    • At the end of this stage, each team will submit a detailed 10-slide proposal in PDF/PPTX and/or video format. Use your skills and creativity to convince the experts and be selected for the final event!
    • The top 3 teams will be selected for the final event.
  • Phase 3: Awards Ceremony:
    • The 3 winners will receive their awards at the building energy efficiency trade fair, EnerJ’meeting , which will take place on February 11, 2025 in Paris.
    • They will have the opportunity to present their project to professionals in the field.
