The Canadian Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology Foundation is pleased to announce its Immunodeficiency Canada Research Fellow/Early Investigator Award in Primary Immunodeficiency.
Objective
- The objective of the CAAIF-Immunodeficiency Canada Research Fellow/Early Investigator Award in Primary Immunodeficiency is to support early career investigators doing research into advancement of knowledge into understanding the molecular and genetic basis of primary immunodeficiency as well as breakthroughs in novel treatments for these conditions.
Funding Information
- The value of the award is a minimum of $20,000.
Eligibility Criteria
- The award must be held at a Canadian university or research institute defined as an eligible institution by CIHR
- Supervisor (if applicable) must have an academic appointment in that University of Institute.
- Project must fall within CAAIF’s mission
- Preference will be given to investigators who have not received this award within the past two years.
- Investigator-initiated studies of commercial pharmaceutical products eligible for industry sponsorship will not be considered except under special circumstances.
- Applicant must be either:
- Postdoctoral fellow, in a research-based fellowship,
- Early investigator within the first five years (with adjustment made for career interruptions*) of completing their degree (phd or equivalent), or
- Currently in the Clinical Immunology and Allergy Training Program
Evaluation Criteria
- Quality and clarity of the proposed research project and the potential to increase research capacity related to primary immunodeficiency
- Scientific strengths of the proposed methodology
- Demonstrated ability of applicant/collaborators to realistically achieve proposed project objectives
- Appropriatness of budget for the work proposed
- Appropriateness of the proposed research project to further the applicant’s research career
- Strength of letter of support
