The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in partnership with the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF), and the General Secretariat of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development (GSSCPD), is hosting the Knowledge Week in Kuwait to drive conversations that leverage the Global Knowledge Index (GKI) insights to address developmental challenges and support Kuwait’s transition towards a knowledge-based economy in line with its third National Development Plan.
The Knowledge Week was previously hosted in Egypt and Jordan and has been instrumental in fostering dialogue between youth and policymakers, focusing on the critical insights of the GKI. With that, UNDP and its partners are opening the opportunity to youth living in Kuwait to partake in these dialogues and contribute the Kuwait’s development agenda and drive its transition to a knowledge-based economy.
Objectives
- Enhance public understanding of Kuwait’s transition to a knowledge-based economy by sharing insights from the GKI 2023 and integrating data into policy discussions to inform and shape future strategies.
- Equip Kuwaiti youth with essential future-ready and market-driven skills through hands-on training, fostering their ability to contribute to national development and the achievement of Vision 2035 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
- Facilitate multi-generational and cross-sectoral dialogue among youth and decision makers while establishing a robust network of young leaders and changemakers to drive national and regional progress and innovation.
Workshop Details
- Duration: Five days in the course of a week, on 6-10 October 2024.

Post-Workshop Engagement
- Continuous monitoring and follow-up on the progress of youth-initiated proposals.
- Ongoing virtual meetings to foster dialogue and collaboration.
- Establishing a robust network of young individuals for mutual support and collaboration.
- Facilitating connections between youth with innovative ideas and potential policymakers and investors.
Expected Outcome
- Participants will generate practical recommendations to be presented to decision makers and relevant figures, reinforcing efforts towards building a knowledge-based society.
Eligibility Criteria
- They invite applications from youth residing in Kuwait who are passionate about drawing national insights from data analysis, participating in policy debates, and devising innovative solutions to current challenges. They strongly encourage applications from young women and men from diverse backgrounds, including persons with disabilities.
- Educational requirement: Minimum of a high school diploma.
- Age range: 18 to 29 years.
- Nationality: Must be a Kuwaiti citizen or a permanent resident in Kuwait.
