The American Psychological Foundation has announced the K. Anders Ericsson Dissertation Research Grant for dissertation research in the general area of expertise and skill acquisition, it mainly focuses on applications of the expert performance approach and/or the impacts of deliberate practice in diverse domains of skill.
Research Topic
- Expertise and skill acquisition, broadly defined, with special interest in proposals that use process tracing methods, the expert-performance approach, or a deliberate practice framework to understand superior skill.
Funding Information
- The grant supports one annual $10,000 grant for dissertation research in the general area of expertise and skill acquisition.
- For grants and scholarships that are $10,000 or more, APF will disburse the funds to the grantee’s institution. APF does not allow institutional indirect costs or overhead costs. Funded researchers may use grant monies for direct administrative costs of their proposed project.
- To receive APF funds, recipients must be affiliated with a nonprofit charitable, educational or scientific institution, or governmental entity operating exclusively for charitable and educational purposes.
Eligibility Criteria
- APF encourages applicants from diverse backgrounds with respect to age, race, color, religion, creed, nationality, ability, sexual orientation, gender, and geography.
- Applicants must be graduate students in the process of completing their dissertations.
