Deadline: 26 September 2024
The Delfina Foundation in partnership with the Mondriaan Fund is delighted to announce a Residency open call for visual artists and curators who are Dutch or based in the Netherlands.
Delfina Foundation is housed at 29-31 Catherine Place, in centre of London, close to Buckingham Palace. There is space for 6 to 8 international residents. Each resident has their own room, sharing the kitchen and sanitary facilities.
The residency programme begins with a series of visits to museums, galleries and non-profit platforms. As the residents visit these venues, they get to know one another and discuss their own work and that of others. During the working period, discussions are organized with artists who live and work in London. Portfolios are discussed with curators and a networking lunch is held regularly. Residents are expected to take part in these activities.
Applicants to the Delfina Foundation residencies are not asked to delineate a concrete project proposal in advance, but they do need to submit a clear motivation, explaining why they wish to take part in this programme, what kind of research they wish to conduct during their residency and how this research can contribute to Delfina Foundation’s ongoing programme.
Funding Information
- The costs of renting the studio, living space and support given by Delfina Foundation are paid directly to the Delfina Foundation by the Mondriaan Fund. The remaining costs of travel, living expenses and materials for each working period is assessed at €8,203 for a visual artist, or €6,412 for a curator. This amount is for one person. The resident is expected to contribute 10%. This is settled by the Mondriaan Fund.
Who is eligible?
- Visual artists, curators, art critics and art observers who wish to deepen their professional practices and expand their networks are eligible to apply for a working period in the Netherlands or another country at one of the recognized residencies offered by the Mondriaan Fund.
- The Mondriaan Fund offers Residency grants to stimulate the enrichment of the artistic development and practice of visual artists, curators and art observers abroad or in a new environment, through a period at a Dutch or international studio designated by the Fund. This also allows for the exploration of new Dutch and international contacts and markets, supporting the creation of work that can make a valuable contribution to contemporary visual art and/or cultural heritage in the Netherlands.
