Deadline: 31 August 2024
UN Women’s Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia announces the launch of its youth blog in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, the most progressive blueprint ever for advancing gender equality and women’s rights.
Ahead of this significant milestone, the regional office is providing a platform for young voices to advocate for gender equality and women’s rights across Europe and Central Asia.
The Beijing+30 Europe and Central Asia youth blog, hosted on the UN Women Europe and Central Asia website, invites submissions from individuals aged 14 to 30 from the region. This initiative aims to encourage youth to express their views, concerns, and expectations regarding gender equality and women’s rights, in alignment with the core principles of the Beijing Declaration.
Adopted in 1995 by 189 governments, the Beijing Declaration committed to taking strategic, bold action in 12 critical areas of concern: poverty, education and training, health, violence, armed conflict, economy, power and decision-making, institutional mechanisms, human rights, media, environment, and the girl child.
Selected blog entries will be disseminated through UN Women’s social media channels, amplifying the voices of young advocates. Additionally, selected young people will be invited to participate in targeted initiatives, events, and activities commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration in the upcoming year.
